One way to make money on the Internet is by using Google Adsense.
How Does It Work?
You sign up for an account at Google Adsense. There are quite a few ways to use Google Adsense but for the brevity of this article the easiest is to pick a type of banner for your blog and place it on your blog. There are strategies on ad placement but I’ll save that for another article.
Advertisers create ads using keywords that relate to their business at Google Adwords. Those ads then show up on Google Adsense on blogs and websites where users click on the ads that follow thru to a product.
Example
If you look over to the left column on my blog, underneath the Categories list, you’ll see Google Adsense. The advertisements are targeted to the topic that is on the web page. So if you’re reading one of my articles on blogging, you might see advertisements that say, “Learn How To Blog” or “Make Money Blogging”.
Google Adsense is only one way to make money online. There are plenty of other ways and easier ways to make money online. I’ll go over those in future articles so make sure you subscribe to my blog.
There is also the caveat that once someone clicks on an ad on your site, they are taken away from your blog or website, and that might not be what you want.
Real world example – I created a website and ran Google Adsense on it for one year. The site ended up having about 500 unique visitors a day and hovered around 100,000 page views a month.
The Google Adsense that I put on the site with no strategy in mind ended up paying out $100.00 after one year. Google only pays out at the $100.00 mark.
Google Adsense is called PPC advertising which stands for Pay-Per-Click advertising. Google Adsense is free, and combines pay-per-click and pay-per-impression advertising – meaning you get paid for valid clicks on the ads on your site or search results pages as well as impressions on your content pages.
One technique for making money with Google Adsense is building a website or two or three, etc. and targeting those sites to attract visitors who will click on those Google ads, causing your Google Adsense revenue to payout quicker.
It’s a numbers game. Drive as much traffic to your Google Adsense sites as you can and the possibility of conversion – clicks – goes up.
