About

Welcome. My name is Bill Bolmeier, and this is my website. It’s my scratchpad and homebase on the web.

This is where I write about political activism and related topics, techie stuff, music, books, quotes, how-to’s, inspiration, drumming, and whatever else I find interesting to share.

To get a hold of me, you can email bill@billbolmeier.com. Here are a few things about me:

Longer Summary

Musician Stuff (1975 thru 1990)

I was a full-time musician from about 15 to 30 years old. I was a freelance drummer and played with many great musicians during that time. This was during the years 1975 to 1990.

As a freelance drummer, I played whatever type of music I was hired for.

Here’s a picture of me performing with Chuck Berry during the 1980s:

Here’s another photo from the 1980s with Jazz Saxophonist Clifford Jordan:

And another from the 1980s with Jazz Guitarist Dave Stryker:

Since there were no phones with cameras at that time, and I didn’t carry a camera with me, I didn’t get too many other performances documented.

However, some others included Mose Allison, Clint Holmes, a lot of 1950s and ’60s singing groups, and comedians Shecky Green, George Burns, and Henny Youngman, to name a few.

A singer I used to perform with, Marilyn Maye, allowed me to perform with Marilyn and Buddy Rich‘s band as well as Count Basie‘s band. Experiences I will never forget.

Short story: When Buddy Rich was in town with his band, I was 15 years old and went backstage after the concert to meet him and get his autograph. Ten years later, at age 25, I performed with his band because I was part of the Marilyn Maye trio that backed her up. Great stories and fun times.

Techie Stuff (1990 to Present)

I’ve been working in the technology industry for over 25 years.

I’ve created and managed Information Technology teams that provide incredible customer service and support. Some of those I hired have gone on to be leaders in the same space.

I’m a techie and have worked with PCs running all versions of Microsoft Windows and Linux, as well as physical servers and VMs running various operating systems. I’ve even worked in DOS and at the Unix command prompt when they were THE operating systems.

As a Software Developer, I’ve written systems that people use to do business daily. Software that includes document imaging, requisition and purchasing, and healthcare systems.

I use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies to create websites and web applications.

Some job titles I’ve held include Software Developer, IT Manager, and Application Solution Architect. I consider myself an IT Generalist.
