Conservative extremists threatened Target retail stores recently in Target’s preparation for Pride Month June 2023. This forced Target to pull back on certain items they sold and opted to protect their employees.
Conservative Extremists Track Record
Fresh off their boycott of Bud Light for daring to feature a transgender spokesperson online, the Bud Light boycott was confined to hate spewed on the Internet by conservative extremists. The Target backlash however involved physical protests against employees and breaking stuff.
Threatening violence or behaving violently for political purposes is the definition of terrorism. It all serves as an effective barometer for the growing intolerance in America.
Leading up to a June 2023 court hearing for Donald Trump, GOP representative Clay Higgins in a decoded tweet said this:
“Prepare for war. ‘Know your bridges’ is militia speak for closing them down. County level insurrection.”
Who Else?
It’s not just the far-right individuals who are the terrorists. The Heritage Foundation, the conservative think tank is circulating groomer panic messaging, saying on Twitter:
“We took a stroll through a Target store and what we found is Target is very much in the business of promoting gender confusion and grooming children The verdict they concluded was don’t shop at Target.”
With that, came this response from someone on Twitter:
A Republican Senator tweeted that Target is, “Waging war on its conservative customer base and said he’d be boycotting Target.” The rage-mongering goes all the way to the top. You always have to ask what the Senator could have said to strengthen America and its people.
When it comes to the domestic extremists, they are egged on by the GOP.
Threatening Workers
The same conservatives who engage in doomsday drama whenever a homeless person shoplifts a loaf of bread from a San Francisco grocery store, are the same people who have no issue with their unhinged followers tearing through Target stores destroying private property, and threatening minimum wage retail workers.
What It’s Really About
This is about conservatives going after a minority community and creating a fake moral panic.
The American right pretends to worship free speech until people or corporations they don’t like, exercise it. They claim to hate boycotts and cancel culture until they’re the ones doing the boycotting and canceling.
For the conservative, it’s free markets and free speech for me, but not for thee. It’s tough on crime and terror until they do the crime and terror.
