Consider signing up to do phone banking.
What Is Phone Banking?
Phone banking is when people, usually volunteers, call a list of potential voters to promote a cause or candidate. Phone banking is a great way to help win elections not only in your state but in other states as well.
On September 19th, 2023, New Hampshire will have a very important state house election. Before you say I don’t care about that, you should. And here’s why.
First of all, every single election matters a great deal. But this particular election, which is taking place in the Northwood and Nottingham area in New Hampshire, is really important. Because if the Democrat wins, Democrats will finally achieve a tie in the state house.
While that doesn’t sound like a big deal, it is because once we tie the state house in New Hampshire, Republicans can no longer pass awful legislation. We have effectively blocked them. So this is important, this little election in District One in New Hampshire.
Every Vote Matters
The fantastic thing about this and why you should volunteer is that Hal Rafter is an outstanding Democratic candidate. The last time he ran for the seat, he lost by 25 votes. Don’t tell me that your vote doesn’t matter.
By volunteering and phone banking for this election, which you can sign up for, you can help find those votes. A side effect of phone banking is it makes you feel great and that you’re making a difference.
And that’s not that ambitious. By calling people who might not know about it, they can become the ones that make the difference. Some might know about it but need help with absentee voting information. Someone might want a yard sign. You can make a slight difference that counts. Imagine how many people it would take to phone bank that will lead to a win for Hal Rafter.
You Can Help
We know the news is crazy with all kinds of issues. But always remind yourself that it’s a choice of how you spend your time.
Spend some of your time helping win elections. All the doom scrolling on your device is not going to change anything.
You can talk about how horrible Republicans are, and it won’t change anything.
Winning elections. Getting Democrats elected. That changes things. Sometimes, it’s as easy as finding 25 actual votes. Let’s fix the country together.
