We have extremely important Virginia 2023 elections coming up on November 7th, 2023. These elections are uniquely dangerous. Every single seat in the Virginia State House is up for election.
Right now in Virginia, Republicans have a slim majority in the state House, and Democrats have a tiny majority in the state Senate. Virginia happens to be the final state in the South without a Republican abortion ban.
But Virginia Governor Glenn Yongkin wants to change that. He can’t wait to pass an abortion ban in the state. He wants to sign anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ legislation. To do that, he needs Republican majorities in both chambers.
Youngkin chose Trump’s awful EPA director Andrew Wheeler as his natural resources secretary. He has made polluting Virginia’s air and water a top priority.
He hasn’t been able to pass most of his agenda. While Republicans hold a slim majority in the House of Delegates, Democrats hold an equally slim majority in the state Senate.
Should he get them this November, no more abortion in the South. But it gets worse. On the coattails of that victory, he will likely launch his presidential bid.
Democrats need to be proactive on this one in a big way. Republicans are paying attention to these elections. And they’re raising tons of money hand over fist.
If the Republicans win in Virginia it not only means all those bans will be put into place but it will also set Glen Youngkin to run for President of The United States.
