Regarding abortion bans, it turns out the Republican-led compromised state of Idaho does have the worst abortion laws in the entire country.
Idaho Democratic leaders met with the Biden administration and other Democratic leaders from around the country, and when they compared abortion bans from all of the Republican-led states, they found that Idaho’s policies were demonstrably the worst.
Here’s Why:
- Near-total abortion ban. Let’s be clear, “near” IS a total abortion ban.
- The ban on minors crossing state lines to get an abortion unless they have express parental permission.
- Idaho is the only state that doesn’t have a Maternal Mortality Council, a committee that reviews deaths of women during or within a year of their pregnancy, which means Idaho can’t even track how many people die during pregnancy or postpartum.
And yet that is not enough for an Idaho state senator who tweeted about Idaho hasn’t gone far enough.
Republican women, do you know how much contempt these men have for you when they don’t want you to get emergency life-saving care if you’re pregnant? Because pregnancy complications like ectopic pregnancy or hemorrhage, or sepsis don’t happen unless it’s a wanted pregnancy, and all of these Republican men you voted for aren’t going to save you.
Abortion should be the decision between a woman and her doctor.
