A significant part of Donald Trump and his advisor’s strategy is to create an autocracy in the United States. Autocracy, rule by one.
After the American Revolution at our Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, the powers of the federal and state governments were separated into three branches, the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. We call that system checks and balances.
The reason that was done was to prevent the rise of autocracy, prevent the rise of tyranny, and prevent the creation of a dictatorship.
What They’ll Do
But if Donald Trump and his advisors have their way, they’ll undermine the system of checks and balances and drive a truck right through it. Their goal is to take complete control of the executive branch.
This means that Donald Trump would preside over 47 different government agencies. Agencies like the Department of Education, the Department of Defense, the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and many more.
The way Trump would do that is through hiring practices. He would remove employee protections to hire whoever he wanted to in those departments. Today, those employees serve the American people and the Constitution. They’re not hired because they’re Democrats or Republicans. They’re not hired because they’re loyal to the president. They’re hired because they’re experts in their fields.
But if Donald Trump has his way, he would remove those employee protections and hire party loyalists. As a result, he would undermine the integrity of our system.
According to his advisors, the department he would begin with would be the Justice Department.
Hiring people loyal to Donald Trump would undermine the integrity of the FBI and CIA. As a result, there would be no separation between the Justice Department and the executive branch as there is right now under President Biden.
When you do that, you’ve taken a major step towards dictatorship. Mussolini, Hitler, we’ve seen this before.
