Beyond the Box: The Internet’s Challenge To TV’s Reality

For the longest time, we’ve lived in a controlled reality held together by the information given to us by people on TV. The medium is the message, as they say. The TV was a dictatorial medium.

Whoever had lots of money controlled the airwaves. They could control the messaging.

They told us what reality was, and then we got to argue about this one version of reality.

The ongoing argument is the validity of that information and whether it was good or bad for culture.

Here Comes The Internet

The internet has changed the way we define reality. We, the people, can now get online and reach millions of people.

Canadian singer Leonard Cohen wrote, “The rich have got their channels in the bedrooms of the poor.” That has now changed.

People can now get the truth out in real-time. And so because of that, the control of reality has left autocratic power. That has always been there. They could control reality.

All sorts of new ways of thinking are being increased at a rapid speed.

And because of that, our culture is, in a sense, collapsing because the culture was rooted in a controlled reality.

How To Control The Narrative

To get reality back into control, the so-called grown-ups in the room, the people with the money and power, want everything to move closer to authoritarianism.

It’s been lurking in the shadows this whole time for white people. We see it reflected in the way the culture treats non-white people.

And now authoritarianism is raining down on us. The power structures are doubling down on their power and telling us what they want to do to us.

Republicans and their conservative culture-Christian billionaire backers have all these plans to bring us back to the country that was. They don’t want to become who Democrats want us to be.

The Question Is

And so the question becomes, are Democratic politicians willing to stand up? Or are they going to go with the flow?

Democrats are winning elections today because the majority of us are seeing what the Republicans want to do, and we don’t like it.

Democrats need a “Progressive 2025,” the opposite of the Republican’s “Project 2025.”

We need a plan to lock down Democracy. And just like Project 2025, Progressive 2025 must go into effect when we win the majority control in 2024. Until then, it can happen in every democratic-led state, state by state.
