How To Start A Yellow Dot Movement Where You Live

If you live in a republican-led state that is banning books in classrooms, here’s one thing you can do to build a team of people who oppose book bans.

Here are the steps to start your own Yellow Dot Movement. Here’s what it means and what you’re going to do:

  1. You’re going to go to your favorite sticker store and buy these two-inch round yellow dot stickers.
  2. You’re going to find out when your next school board meeting is that’s open to the public.
  3. You’re going to find out what time that is.
  4. You are going to post about the meeting everywhere that you can.
  5. You’re going to show up to the school board meeting at least 15 minutes before it starts.
  6. You’re going to stand outside of the school board meeting with your yellow dot stickers.
  7. When people walk up, you’re going to ask them if they are against the removal of books in the classroom.
  8. If they are against the removal of books in the classrooms, you’re going to give them a yellow dot sticker, and you’re also going to connect with them.
  9. Take a sign-up sheet.
  10. Start gathering the names and numbers and email addresses of the people who oppose the removal of books from the classrooms.
  11. Whether you make a public comment or not, your yellow sticker is your voice.
  12. You will immediately see who’s on our team.
  13. Then you’re going to go online.
  14. You’re going to find Stop Moms for Liberty National.
  15. You’re going to find out if there’s a local chapter in your area. And if there’s not, you’re going to start one because it takes five minutes to start a Facebook group.
  16. And then you’re going to post that group everywhere.
  17. Then you’re going to go to Defense of Democracy‘s page and you’re going to find your state’s chapter and you’re going to post that everywhere.
  18. And every time you post, you’re going to use a hashtag, #YellowDot.
  19. You’re going to take pictures of all the yellow dots showing that we are the majority.
  20. You are not going to wait for someone else to do this because we can no longer be apathetic. No one else is going to do it. You are.

We’re going to start the yellow dot movement and take back our schools!
