The Overton window is the range of policies politically acceptable to the mainstream population at a given time.

In America, the furthest left we can comfortably talk about in public is socialism.
Globally, there’s a lot further to the left we can go, but there’s not much further to the right we can go. There’s a ledge on the right, and that ledge topples into fascism.
And that’s a real problem because as Republicans lose power, they’re going to keep recruiting from the far right. That’s already happening with the likes of Boebert, Greene, Gaetz, Trump, and DeSantis.
There’s already been an unsuccessful coup where they tried to seize the government by violent means.
It’s up to us to hold the line. How do we do that? Keep that Overton window from toppling into full-on fascism by moving it as far left as possible.
By teaching the average person that leftist ideologies are the best for all of us.
That owning the means of production and providing for our community, regardless of our community’s ability to earn it, is the best for all of us.
If we can convince the average person of that, we win.
Here’s a great example from YouTube that explains the Overton window in simple terms with examples.
