Put Me In Jail

There’s a phenomenon that happens in the United States that doesn’t get too much attention. And it’s not unique to the United States.

The phenomenon is that people are begging and pleading in colder months and really hot months, to be put behind bars in order to access human rights like shelter and food, which should be provided to all.

For whatever reason these people are homeless, their options are a for-profit safety net like jail or the street. Adding the profit incentive to human suffering.

Capitalism will always put profits over people. And so when adding a profit incentive to the social safety net, we need to be asking ourselves, what are we doing as a society?

So please keep this in mind when someone says, and they say it, that the unhoused want to be unhoused.
