Kindness: Its Role In Democracy. Small Acts, Big Impact.

A person holding a card that says kindness. Pass it on.

You know that moment when you walk into a store and hold the door for a stranger? That’s a moment of kindness. It’s a moment of decency. That moment is what we should try to live in all the time.

When we do that, we don’t ask ourselves, “Is that a Trump supporter?” and then close the door in their face, do we? Of course not. That’s a moment of kindness we should model every day.

Let’s commit to being decent and kind for every challenge we face as citizens, whether in our families, communities, or globally.

Let’s be willing to commit to peace. It seems like an oversimplified solution. Think about it.

For some, after years and decades, finding that space of kindness and decency can be challenging.

But if we try to maintain that throughout our day, you and I can engage in dialogue and discourse peacefully.

We can sit down with other humans, find consensus, and work towards solutions. That’s what we call democracy. It starts on the smallest of scales.

Think big, but start small.
