What Democracy Looks Like In Minnesota 2023. For The People.

While republican-led states are taking away their citizen’s rights and stifling education, this is what Minnesota is doing.

Minnesota – The Star of The North:
  • Unemployment for hourly workers. Construction workers and people who work on the roads get unemployment because it’s seasonal. They passed this in their House but not their Senate yet.
  • Bus drivers and school lunch personnel will get unemployment when it’s off-season.
  • Replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People’s Day.
  • They’re going to make indigenous education mandatory.
  • They are going to make personal finance and civics a graduation requirement.
  • Genocide and ethnic studies in social studies curriculum.
  • $85.3 million to expand Pre-K.
  • $85 million to train and hire support staff for the mental, physical, and emotional health of their students and their well-being.
  • $65.9 million for paras to pay them during prep and professional development.
  • They are going to double American Indian education funds.
  • $2 million for gender-neutral bathrooms.
  • $3.6 million to make sure that students have menstrual products in school because those are not provided.

There’s a lot more in that bill. Amazing news for education. While other states are being in other parts of the country, Minnesota is taking a lead and taking a stand and saying, not here.
