There are no links if you click on any of these books. To purchase, consider alternatives to Amazon and Audible. Also, consider ordering from bookstores owned by people of color.

#1: The Shadow Docket by Steven Vladeck

This is about the recent Supreme Court’s use of the shadow docket over the merits docket to make decisions that impact every American without having to write an opinion, without having to argue about it and doing it anonymously. It has an enormous impact on what’s going on right now. Definitely read this.

In an article on 5 books about American Politics in 2023, this is one of those books, The Shadow Docket.

#2: Border & Rule by Harsha Walia

This book is all about immigration. Legal immigration, illegal immigration, it is comprehensive, it is complete. It will blow your mind how the government uses immigration and the labor force. They don’t care if it’s legal; they don’t care if it’s illegal. This is a must-read.

#3: Kill Switch by Adam Jentleson

This is all about the filibuster, how it came about, how it evolved, and how it is used today. It was no founding father of the United States had any idea what a filibuster was, and it will go into the history of its use. Very good book.

#4: The Right, The Hundred Year War for American Conservatism by Matthew Continetti

It doesn’t matter if you’re a liberal or conservative. This is the history of American conservatism over the last 100 years and how it used to be like this kind of more of a pariah party during the New Deal era. It’s a resurgence with, you know, like Barry Goldwater and then with Ron Reagan and how it has evolved today and degenerated today under the rise of Donald Trump. Very good book.

#5: Listen to Liberal by Thomas Frank

A highly recommended book. This is for liberally minded people. This is for conservative people. This is a book to read about all the flaws of the Democratic Party. All the mistakes it has made. This will be very, very eye-opening, particularly if you’re liberal.

Happy reading.

Productivity Hack: It is considered reading if you purchase and listen to a book. I listen to a book at two times the speed to get through it as long as I can understand it. If it’s a book that’s super incredible, and only you’ll know that, I slow it down.
