Republicans: What They Really Want Is To Be Free Of Us

Republicans. The Republican Study Committee released its Blueprint To Save America for 2023. And, of course, it is horrifying.

The Republican Study Committee is a group of 175 Republican House members. They represent about 70 to 75% of the Republican caucus.

They claim their budget plan will solve the debt crisis, which is not necessarily a crisis and only exists because of the Bush and Trump tax cuts.

Their plan proves once again that Republicans hate working Americans.

Blueprint Highlights

  • First, it raises the age for Social Security benefits from 67 to 69. That’s a cut to you and me. Something Republicans promised they would never do.
  • The Republican plan would privatize Medicare. It also repeals Medicare’s new power to negotiate drug prices, stop rapid drug price increases, and cap the price of insulin.
  • This budget also slashes funding for the ACA and Medicaid. This would strip health care from tens of millions of Americans but also end critical protections for people with preexisting health conditions.
  • This budget would increase defense spending by 3% while slashing non-defense spending. As you know, who cares about hungry children as long as you have fighter jets?
  • This budget also includes every antiabortion provision you can think of.
  • Calls for an end to funding for the radical green agenda. In fact, everything that keeps our air and water clean is cut.
  • Eliminates funding for the Community Development Block Grant program.
  • Eliminates National Endowment for the Arts funding and say goodbye to Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
  • It would provide ample funding to finish the border wall.
  • This budget plan proposes a $5.1 trillion tax cut over the next ten years. And this will surprise precisely no one. But those tax cuts are geared toward the rich and corporations.

The budget blueprint closes with these words (paraphrased): “The key to growth, innovation, and flourishing communities is freedom from the burdens of government.”

What Republicans really want to be free of and what they find burdensome is us. The very citizens they’re supposed to serve.

Never forget it, and vote accordingly.
