How To Hate Extreme Christian Nationalism

Christian nationalism is a political ideology. It’s a political ideology that has hijacked all of the language and symbols of Christianity yet somehow has absolutely nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

They believe this is a Christian nation, and our laws should reflect Christian values. So what it looks like right now is banning abortion, banning gay marriage, and banning no-fault divorce. Some of you might be thinking, wow, these are my values. Sign me up for Christian nationalism. The problem is there are over 40,000 Christian denominations, some of which are pretty extreme.

Extreme Christian Nationalism Video 1:

Video Clip 1 Text: “Like the federal government, the police or what have you, should enforce Leviticus 20:13. The United States government or local government, Knox County government, Tennessee government should put murderers to death. Right. Should put rapists to death. Amen. Should put kidnappers to death. Amen. Should put adulterers to death. Amen. Should put sodomites to death.”

Leviticus 20:13 states, "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, they have committed an abomination; the two of them shall be put to death; their bloodguilt is upon them".

Extreme Christian Nationalism Video 2:

Video Clip 2 Text: “I’m against a woman-run home. I’m against a woman-run church. I’m against a woman-run nation. We have no business with a female vice president. That’s not scripture. That’s not biblical.”

Extreme Christian Nationalism Video 3:

Video Clip 3 Text: “Why are we letting women teach us? Why are we letting women lead us? The Republican party seems doomed to me because while we’re kicking on the Democrats, let’s kick on the Republicans for a minute. Most of the recent candidates are women. And I’m thinking like, okay, Joe Biden, bad. A woman politician replacing him, not better.”

Extreme Christian Nationalism Video 4:

Video Clip 4 Text: “I don’t believe in this doctrine that says that girls that dress like whores and walk through dark alleys to a nightclub are completely innocent when they get raped. It’s like, don’t dress like a whore.”

This is the extreme side of Christian Nationalism. Or is it? If non-extreme Christian Nationalists are not speaking out against this in a big way, they should be. It’s not looking too good for women. Separation of church and state is good.
