Self-Care And Activism: A New Paradigm For The Cause

Self-care and activism. It has been encouraging to watch the world come together and protest. It’s been encouraging to see this change in public opinion.

There’s immense comfort to see that social media pierces through much of the worst propaganda that was once very effective.

Everyone is adding their voices in solidarity, making a difference.

Everyone is concerned that the momentum is dying out or the interest will wane. It seems like it has yet to and has increased.

Considering what’s happening around us and national and world events, activism has become a new and standard way of life, as it should. That standard now needs to be dealt with on a personal level.

We must engage in self-care to stay at these levels of activism for the long haul. There needs to be a mental shift in each of us to remain in activism for decades until we get what we want or close to it.

There’s a balance between doing activism work day after day for what could be decades and knowing when you need to take time to regroup and let others carry the torch.

It’s not going to be helpful if you burn out. You must rest and focus on centering yourself.

There’s no one right way to do activism work. We don’t need people checking out of activism work because of burning out.

For the sake of the worldwide revolution, we all need to take care of ourselves. We all need to have restorative, rejuvenating rest.

We need to learn to lean on one another and build a community with other people to share this with them.

These acts of self-care and community are revolutionary.

Please do what you need today in service of your body, mind, and soul to fill your cup and be there for the people who will need you, which is all of us.
