The Misguided Focus of Modern Social Justice Movements

In an article about modern social justice movements, this is a photo of a neon light that says, "Change."

Are there leaders or people you admire in modern social justice movements and think, “How are they not on the right side of history? How are they not saying anything? How are they doing what they’re doing?” Well, you’re not alone.

What we’re seeing is a split between the moderate “woke” people and the people who want the entire system to change.

A lot of your favorite advocates have talked about black lives matter. They’ve spoken about trans lives and other social injustices. You’d think they would be behind what’s going on. But actually, it seems as if they want to keep the status quo going.

What they want is to give women, trans people, black people, disabled people, etc., representative power within the existing system. There’s a lot of people who think like this. Whether they admit it or not.

And when you look at the diversity and inclusion industry, generally, that’s what it’s promoting. It’s trying to get everyone equally represented within the existing system.

Modern Social Justice Movements: Another Side

Then, some people are like, the system is unacceptable. The behavior of the system is inappropriate.

Look at the many babies that are being killed right now. This is the outcome of the existing system. This is unacceptable to many of us.

Whereas you have people on the other side who are like, this upholds the system I’m not trying to change. So even if they’re unhappy about it, they’re like, it is what it is, and that’s how the world works.

What we’re seeing now is a divide in modern social justice movements.

It’s time to let go of people that we admire. The people we thought were change-makers when all they ever wanted was to get the marginalized equal representation within the existing system. Not that was ever possible, but that’s all they advocated for.
